What is Semantic Aspects?
1. Sign
In the semantic aspect a sign is something that shows another meaning. Based on that the sign can be divided into three namely:
Audio: drum as prayer time arrives.
Visual: traffic signs, red is a sign to stop, green is a sign to walk.
Audio-visual: an ambulance ringing a siren and a red light spinning above it is a sign asking for a way to get to the destination quickly.
Signs can be said as lexemes which can be directly followed by other forms, such as punctuation marks, fragmentary signs, proof marks, elliptical marks, image marks, i.e.
2. Coat of arms
The actual symbol is also the same as the sign. It's just that this symbol doesn't give a direct sign. But through something else.
Example: the red color on the red and white flag is a symbol of courage while the white color is a symbol of purity.
3. Symbols
A symbol is an object that serves as a means to present something abstract. Symbols are usually written and spoken. The symbol (symbol) is an arbitrary and conventional language element that represents the object's relationship and its significance (cf. Lyons, I, 1997: 100).
4. Bookmark
A marker is something that is used to give a sign.
Let's discuss about this thread
BalasHapusCan u give me another example of the symbol?
BalasHapusExample of symbol including
Hapus-Symbols contained in maps.
- "Ssssttttttt ..." shows a symbol or signal that the other person is silent.
Another example of symbol:
Hapus1. ❤ : love
2. 🚦: traffic light
3. 🚭 : no smoking
Can you give the example about bookmark? And what the differences between bookmark and coat of arms?
BalasHapusI will give an example of bookmark, when you read a book and there is a part that you unread before, then you give a sign to that unread section, that sign is called a bookmark.
HapusIn my opinion, coat of arms is a symbol that has indirect sign. So, it needs something else to give a sign. Meanwhile, bookmark is a symbol that has direct sign. (CMIIW)
an example of a bookmark is an exciting (!) marker that serves to emphasize, giving a warning that the sentence that is marked with exclamation needs to be noticed.
HapusCoat of arms is doesn't give a direct sign. But through something else. While bookmark is something that is used to give a sign.^^
HapusExcuse me, i would like to ask about the sign, are the meanings of a sign in each county different or not? Thank in advance.
BalasHapusI think so,
HapusWe look in Indonesia, there are so many sign in languages especially. So, sometimes. If the someone not understand about the meaning. It will get cross culture. It's important to know kind of sign in another country.
It's my opinion, i don't know in semantic terms. Maybee, the presenter will explain more.
The sign in each country different or not is not because sign is the same in general the sign has the same meaning and usage. For example traffic signs both in Indonesia and throughout the world the meaning of traffic signs is the same. This is my opinion, maybe others can add
HapusCan you tell me what the difference between signs, symbols (lambang) and symbols? And please gimme an example.
BalasHapusThis difference is Signs can be said as lexemes which can be directly followed by other forms. And then Coat of arms is doesn't give a direct sign. But through something else. For example punctuation marks, fragmentary signs, proof marks, elliptical marks, image marks
Hapus-The sign according to KBBI is the address or which states something. Example: lightning sign will rain Rain symbol has a meaning as something like a sign (painting, writing, words) which states a thing, which contains a certain meaning. For example: red and white flag, red means bold white means holy Symbol is a picture, shape, or object that represents an idea, object, or amount of something. Example: no parking mark.
Hapus-The symbol is something used to show something else. Based on the agreement of a group of people.
- symbol is anything that is given meaning by general agreement and or by agreement or custom.
The symbol of the statue of Liberty, the symbol of the eagle, the symbol of the Ka'bah.
Skull symbol (meaning dangerous substance, pirate, head frame), symbol of dove (meaning love, loyalty, bond),
Semantic aspects consist of:
Hapus1. Sign
Is to show something.
Example: the sound of an ambulance and the sound of a fire truck.
2. Coat of arms
For example: people get married with the symbol of yellow palm leaf and the symbol of our country eagle.
3. Symbols
Divided into two written and oral symbols.
For example: symbol of traffic signs
From that all semantic aspects, what's the most well known in our daily life?
BalasHapusAll semantic aspects, the most well known in our daily life is sign because we can see signs and learn in the environment around us and in the sign there are also audio, visual, and audio-visual.
HapusI think all aspects of semantics are important in everyday life because they do exist in our daily lives.
HapusIn my opinion and I felt, the most well known in our daily is sign and symbol. Where ever we go, we often find the sign such as the example from the article above, like drum as prayer time arrives that 5 times in a day. Also the symbol such as crescent moon represents Islam that we found in the mosque.
HapusCan you tell me about the benefits of studying semantic aspects for us?
BalasHapusWhy is it important for us to know or to study semantic aspects?
