I think we should discuss in one reference first.
BalasHapusCould you give the example of them (connotative, social, affective, reflective, collocative and thematic meaning.)?
sometimes other references are also needed because each opinion has a different point of view. so we can draw significant conclusions
Hapusyes, of course. but, we should focus on 1 reference. because, i still confuse about the type
HapusI think so, when we discuss from one reference it's make me understood about it.
BalasHapusWait, but you only mentioned six types of semantics. may I add the other one? that's Conceptual or Denotative meaning. Isn't it ?

HapusMaybe there are 7 type of semantics in general, but I found in another source there are 18 types on semantics.
BalasHapusFrom what I know since I was browsing. According to article by fekhardji mohamed, types of meaning in semantics divided into two separate: conceptual meaning and associative meaning. Conceptual meaning means logical, cognitive, or denotativ content. It is based on two structural principles, which are contractiveness and constituent structures. Associative meaning means of an expression has to do with individual mental understandings of the speaker. Associative can be broken up into six sub-types:connotative, collocative, social, affective, reflected and thematic.
HapusWhy is semantic important?
BalasHapusBecause many words have very similar meanings and it is important to be able to distinguish subtle differences between them with study semantic. For example, ‘anger’ and ‘rage’ (synonyms) but ‘rage’ implies a stronger human reaction to a situation than ‘anger.’ It is also important to know the opposite meanings. For example, ‘near’ and ‘far’ would be considered opposite in meaning. Words that have more than one meaning (homonyms) can also be confusing. For example, ‘watch’ could mean ‘observing’ (a verb) or could refer to a timepiece worn on the wrist (a noun). Than, learning semantic was important for us to distinguish and to know more about the words.
HapusCan you explain a litle definition about all of them and give the example in our daily communication?
BalasHapus1. Conceptual meaninh is literal sense of word and it is also named logical, cognitive and denotative example: when I say "elephant" you will think "elephant is a big animal, he has four legs, tall trunk and weight ear".
HapusMay be just it๐
Affective meaning is communicated of the feeling or attitude of the speaker/writer toward what is referred to. For example, by scaling our remarks according to politeness with the object of getting people to be quiet, we might say:
Hapus1. I’m terribly sorry, but I wonder if you would be to turning down your voices a little (we will use this for people we doesn't know or older than we)
2. Will you shut up or shut up (We will use this for our close friends or best friends)
Collocative meaning is the associated meaning a word acquaires in line with the meaning of words which tend to co-occur with it.
HapusFor example : when i say "pretty and handsome", in general both of them indicates to the good looking, but in collocative it means that "pretty" often co-occur with girl, woman, flower and others. Meanwhile, "handsome" often collocates with boy, man and others
